Now, I don't want you to get the idea that I haven't been doing anything since 2015! Trouble is that the computer that hosts the web site has been having numerous problems so that I have been unable to update the site as I would have liked. I've managed to beat it into submission long enough to post this, but don't hold your breath......
2015
By far the best event in 2015 was the concert for the Stroke Association that Lionel and I put on in November. We called it "Pete Twitchett and Friends" and it was a lovely evening with contribution from Keith Cilvert, Green Shoots, Gayle Wade and the Skylarking Ceilidh Band. We raised £1,021 for the Stroke Association with grateful thanks to all involved.
* Bury Folk Collective ~ 4th January 2015
Another lovely night at Oakes Barn. I was there as part of their evening when they plugged everyone in! Nicely of course... They call it "Wired Folk". There were many fine musicians taking part. Here is a report from the Bury Folk Collective web-site:
"We started the evening with Peter Twitchett, a superb local singer and guitarist with a wonderful sense of humour. His songs soon had us giggling as did the interesting introductions he gave to them."
*Woolpit Men's Club - January 22nd 2015
There is only one way to describe the lovely audience at the Men's Club. Awesome. They asked me back for another evening of folk songs and we had a great time together. Thanks fellas!
Drinkstone Village Concert - 14th February 2015
The village put on a fund-raising concert with a wide variety of musical acts. The differing styles of music meshed very well and a great night was had by all. Another lovely audience who clearly listened to the words of the songs!
2015 Pig's Ear Folk Ale - Markbeech, Kent - May 29th
Yes, I know there's been a few months between February and May but I haven't been idle! Plenty of lovely sessions to visit! However, the Pig's Ear Folk Ale was a target for me. I hadn't been able to get down for a couple of years. So it was good to manage it this year. It was a great experience and the audience appreciated my style of music. Caught up with many old friends too.
Art Thieme
It was while I was involved in the Folk Ale that the news came through that Art Thieme had died. He was a great character and cornerstone of the folk world. He was also very supportive of my work. My condolences go out to all who know and love him. RIP
Bury Folk Collective - 26th July 2015
It was lovely to be invited back to the Oakes Barn for another night of folk. There were a plethora of lovely singers from all over including Chloe Hawes and "Shadows in the Shade". We all had a great time with a very appreciative audience.
2016
Not sure where those notes went!......Ho hum....
2017
Having finally got the website hosting sorted (thanks Andy), I can update this part of the site. You may remember that the computer hosting the website failed and left us stranded. It is good to be up and running again.
The main highlights this year have been Bury's Folk All Dayer held in the Hunter Club, Bury St. Edmunds, another night with the good folks at Oakes Barn and a great day at "The Bull" in Troston. Another highlight was the summer concert at Drinkstone Village Hall. They all benefited from lovely audiences who enjoyed the music on offer. We all had a good time!
2018
It was lovely to be invited back to RWSfm's Studios in December to play my guitar and sing a few songs. It was a nice relaxed session and it was good to be able to share some of my music through the medium of the wireless (as we called it!)
The Bury Folk All Dayer was another successful occasion. Lots of chances to listen, a range of excellent beers and stalls catering for the discerning Folkie! During the period when I was compering we had some lovely groups to entertain us. I especially liked "The Emergers" They were memorable. Especially the didgeridoo. Wonderful!
I am lucky enough to know a member of the "Round the World Yacht Race 2018" crew. He has been writing a blog about the voyage and his writing made Jenny and I think that I could make a song out of his exploits! I was able to sing the resulting song to him, much to his amazement, the other day, and luckily he loved it. He has put the song up on his blog which you can find on www.chasingthealbatross.com
The song by itself is here.
